近來，我們在既有光學及檢測基礎之上，積極開發數位光學程式化、軟體化的潛力，對半導體、液晶材料、驅動技術為基底的數位光學賦予了新的靈魂。更藉著FPLA (Field Programmable Light Array)觀念的導入，對光源及光場，可以做更為前攝性、多樣化的調控，有效簡化光學設計同時增加系統彈性、驗證速度與功能廣度，大幅改善傳統光學系統設計、校準、缺乏彈性的技術痛點，讓數位光學成為光學工程甚至光學教育再起飛的強健雙翼。
Founding - Southport Co. was founded in August 2014. Our founding team brought together talents from optics, materials, physics, and information, developing novel optical design concepts in optical engineering.
Why - In numerous research and application fields, optical inspection systems have been inadequate due to their difficulty in operation, difficulties in adjustments, lack of stability, and resistance to innovative ideas. Our goal is to simplify, modularized, and digitized optics. We help researchers to focus on research and development, improve experimental design concepts, increase the efficiency of their research by concentrating on the most crucial elements of their research.
2 Cores and 4 Pillars - Southpprt has introduced brand-new optical concepts and technologies based on 5D microscopy and digital optics. The company's four key application areas are advanced material analysis, biomedical imaging, microscopic 3D optical inspection, and digital optics. It is Southport's mission to focus on implementing solutions to R&D problems, and easing pain points in practices aimed at facilitating innovation. Combining our in-depth knowledge of light, mechanics, electronics, material, software, technology, and hardware, along with the modular and digital design philosophies, with our experiences in related fields, Southport is poised to provide academia and industry the cutting-edge optical tools they need.
Digging In - Our goal is to keep up with the latest trend in the research and development sector of our key research areas. In the area of advanced materials, we are particularly interested in 2D materials, compound semiconductors, perovskites, and micro-LEDs. Our research has made a significant contribution to cutting-edge research in biomedical fields, such as in vivo microimaging, in vivo brain science imaging, and super-resolution microscopy. The traditional optical inspection process has a lot of challenges, including high aspect ratios, microstructures, and transparent materials. Southport's expertise extends to frontier science and engineering technologies like quantum light sources and quantum dots. Our special interests are areas where Southport continues to make in-depth contributions.
Software-defined Optics - Our expertise in optics and optical inspection has made us a leading innovator in software-defined optics, combining semiconductors, liquid crystal materials, and driving techniques to bring a new soul to digital optics.The FPLA (Field Programmable Light Array)technology enables users to manipulate the light source and the light field more proactively with a view to simplifying optical design and enhancing system flexibility, verification efficiency, and functionalities. It simplifies the design, focusing, and calibration of traditional optical systems. Optical engineering and optical education will be driven by digital optics in the coming years.
